MIDDLETOWN, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team punched their ticket to the United East Conference Tournament as they defeated No. 14 Penn State Harrisburg 14-5 Wednesday afternoon.
Keystone scored first in the top of the second with a two-home home run by Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling). They added two more runs in the fourth to go up, 4-0. The Nittany Lions finally cracked the scoring column with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.
The offense for Keystone kept rolling as Emilio Portes (Rio Grande City, Tex./Monsignor Pace) added a two-run double in the sixth. Penn State Harrisburg scored one in the bottom half via an RBI ground out.
The Giants would add three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to push their lead, 11-2. The Nittany Lions made the game a bit closer with a three spot in the bottom of the eighth. In the top of the ninth, Jacob Yager (Grahamsville, N.Y./Tri-Valley) would put the conference contest away as he belted a three-run home run to left field.
Portes led the team with three hits. Yager, Yastresmski, and Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) all had three RBI. Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) received the win as he tossed 7.1 innings with four strikeouts. Drew Sorrentino (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) pitched 1.2 innings in relief and struck out three.
Keystone (21-7, 10-1 United East) faces Wilkes University tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m.
