Baseball Blanks Susquehanna, 7-0

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team earned a nonconference shut out victory as they defeated Susquehanna University 7-0 Monday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field.

Keystone opened the scoring in the first with an RBI single by Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology). They added two more in the second with a two-run single by Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan).

Keystone scored three times as they took advantage of two throwing errors by the River Hawks and a RBI single. Their final came in the fifth off an RBI groundout by Verano.

Susquehanna threatened with the base loaded in the eighth, but a double play spoiled their chances of cracking the score column.

Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) tallied three hits in the win. Hunter Rauch (Lincoln, Del./Cape Henlopen) added two hits with an RBI.

Anthony Mierez (Granby, Conn./Rockville) moved to 3-0 on the mound as he went five innings and allowed just two hits with six strikeouts. Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) tossed two innings in relief and struck out five. Chase Masterson (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) and Luke Baker (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) tossed one inning and combined for three punchouts.

Keystone (24-8) hosts No. 14 Penn State Harrisburg tomorrow afternoon in a huge conference matchup at 3 p.m.
