LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team secured a United East series sweep over No. 20 Penn State Harrisburg with a 9-6-win Tuesday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions got the scoring started with a solo home run in the top of the first. Keystone dropped five runs in the bottom half with four of them coming from a Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) grand slam. The Giants added an additional run in the second to go up, 6-1.
Harrisburg added to their deficit with a two-run home run in the third and added one run in fifth with an RBI single to make it a two-score game. Keystone got some much-needed insurance as Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) smacked a three-run over the left field wall.
The Nittany Lions hit their second two-run home run of the game in the sixth inning but were unable to add on after that.
Boyle recorded three hits this afternoon. Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) earned his seventh win of the season as he went 5.1 with two strikeouts. He allowed six earned runs off seven hits and walked three. Brandon Girod (Elgin, Tex./Elgin) recorded his first save of the season as pitched two scoreless innings and allowed one hit. The grad student southpaw struck out two.
Keystone (25-8, 13-1 United East) wraps up their homestand tomorrow afternoon against SUNY Cobleskill at 4 p.m.
