LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College baseball team picked up their fifth consecutive win as they defeated SUNY Cobleskill 9-3 Wednesday afternoon.
Keystone opened the game with two runs in the opening frame with a SAC fly and a single. The Fighting Tigers took the lead an inning later with a three-run home run.
The Giants took the lead right back in the third as Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) smoked a solo home run to right and they would cross home plate another time off a failed pickoff attempt.
The team added an additional run in the sixth with a SAC. The busted the contest open with three in the seventh RBI as Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) hit a single to score one followed by a two-run double by Cooper Fesh (Bethel, Conn./Bethel). Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/James J. Ferris) added one more run with a single to center in the bottom of the eighth.
Fesh went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Verano tallied two hits with two runs scored. Estrada finished with two RBI as well.
Dylan Byler (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) started the game and went three innings with three strikeouts. He gave up three earned runs off seven hits. Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) picked up the win, the first of the season, as he tossed two frames with two punchouts. Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) threw three innings in relief and recorded three strikeouts. Luke Baker (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) pitched in the ninth and fanned one batter.
Keystone (26-8) heads to Penn State Berks for their final regular season conference matchup on Saturday, Apr. 26 at 12 p.m.
