Softball Swept by Lancaster Bible in Final Home Doubleheader

SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa.- The Keystone College softball team suffered a doubleheader defeat to Lancaster Bible College 5-2 and 13-3 Tuesday afternoon in their final home game of the season.

Game One: Lancaster Bible 5, Keystone 2

Following a scoreless inning, Keystone grabbed the first run of the ball game with a RBI SAC bunt by Isabella Benitez (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) in the second inning. Lancaster Bible responded an inning later with a two-run single.

The contest remained scoreless until the sixth where the Chargers scored three off a two-RBI single and a throwing error. Keystone threatened in the bottom of the seventh but were only able to bring one home.

Emily Schultz (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) was the only player with a multi-hit game. Julia Gorel (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale Area) suffered the loss as she pitched a complete game with four strikeouts.

Game Two: Lancaster Bible 13, Keystone 3 (5 inn.)

Lancaster Bible scored six runs in the opening frame off a home run, two singles, and two errors. They would add one run in the second and third inning.

The Giants first run came in the bottom of the third with an RBI single by Schultz. Lancaster Bible turned the game upside down in the fourth with a grand slam. Keystone was able to get some of those runs back as Angelina Morley (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit) ripped a two-run single.

The visitors ultimately put the game with a solo home run in the fifth which gave Lancaster Bible the mercy run rule victory.

Schultz went 2-for-3 in game two. Benitez started the second game and went four innings with four punchouts. Gorel pitched an inning in relief and fanned two batters.
