GRANVILLE, Ohio- The Keystone College baseball team opened the Granville Regional with a bang as they defeated Penn State Behrend Friday afternoon at Big Red Field.
Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/James J. Ferris) led off the game with a solo home run and Andy Rivas (Bronx, N.Y./Academy for Language and Technology) followed up with a two-run shot.
The Giants added two runs in the second as Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) smoked a ball over the right field wall and Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) brought home a run with a triple.
The Nittany Lions broke the shutout with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Keystone responded with six runs in the bottom half to make it a 10-run game.
Two more runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning for the Giants as Greg Verano (Raritan, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) provided a sacrifice fly and Estrada singled home a run.
Boyle recorded a game high four hits while Rivas, Estrada, and Carlos Pascual (Paterson, N.J./International) chipped in with two. Rivas had four RBI in the win.Â
Quinn Holt (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) secured his sixth win as he tossed eight innings with eight strikeouts. He allowed one run off five hits. Luke Baker (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) pitched the last frame in relief and struck out two.
Keystone (36-9) will face No. 2/4 Denison University in the winner's bracket game tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
