Baseball Stays Alive to Advance to Granville Regional Final

GRANVILLE, Ohio- The No. 18/30 Keystone College baseball team keeps their season alive with an 11-5 elimination game win over Penn State Behrend Saturday evening, after falling to No. 2/4 Denison 10-4 earlier in the day.

Keystone 4, Denison 10

Denison poured in four runs in the second inning which included a two-run home run by Jake Blozy. The Big Red would later add one run in the fourth and fifth to go up by six.

Keystone made it a whole new ball game as Carlos Pascual (Paterson, N.J./International) blasted a grand slam to right to cut Denison's deficit to two.

Denison added some late insurance as they brought home three in the seventh inning off two base hits and a groundout. They would score one more in the eighth off a solo home run from Jack Lutte.

The Giants tried to add on following the sixth inning, but the Big Red were able to shut them down and move to 2-0 in the Granville Regional.

Robert Estrada (Maracay, Venezuela/James J. Ferris) and Hunter Rauch (Lincoln, Del./Cape Henlopen) were the lone players with a multi hit game. Sean Brennan (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) suffered his first defeat of the year as he struck out eight in six innings of work.

Penn State Behrend 5, Keystone 11

Behrend scored one run a piece in the first three innings. Keystone got on the board at the bottom of the second as Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) launched a two-run home run over the right field wall. Chase Boyle (Millsboro, Del./Sussex Central) brought a run home with a single to tie the game at three.

The Giants took the lead in the fourth as Cooper Fesh (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) ripped a two-run double followed by an Estrada. RBI groundout. Nate Ewing (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) added the finishing touches as the senior smacked a three-run double to go up, 9-3.

Two more runs crossed the plate for Keystone in the fifth off a fielder's choice. The Nittany Lions rallied a little bit as they scored twice in the ninth but were unable to overcome the Giants' bats.

Ewing and Fesh both recorded three RBI this evening while Ewing, Estrada, and Rauch had two hits.

Leam Powell (Phillipsport, N.Y./Chapel Field Christian) moved to 8-0 as he tossed seven innings and punched out seven batters. Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) appeared in relief in the last two frames and struck out three.
