Giants Pull Away in Second Half to Beat Notre Dame of Maryland, 98–86

LA PLUME, Pa.- Keystone College men's basketball used a balanced offensive attack and a dominant effort on the glass to secure a 98-86 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University in United East action Saturday afternoon.

Five Giants scored in double figures as Keystone improved to 5-14 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Jden Golding (Jacksonville, Fla./Clay) led the way with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting and added 11 rebounds for a double-double. Ahmodrion Jones (Wilmington, Del./Delcastle Tech) and Niame Scott (Philadelphia, Pa./Mount Pleasant) each poured in 22 points, while Kamdyn Ayers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Western) and Demetrius Thomas (Atlanta, Ga./North Clayton) chipped in 10 apiece. Thomas also posted a double-double with 11 rebounds.

Keystone shot an efficient 56.7 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three-point range, while outrebounding the Gators 42-22, including an 11-5 edge on the offensive glass.

The Giants built early momentum behind hot shooting in the opening half, taking a 50-45 lead into the break. Golding and Jones combined for 31 first-half points as Keystone connected on 58.6 percent of its shots before halftime.

Keystone created separation early in the second half with a 13-3 run, highlighted by back-to-back three-pointers from Ayers and a layup from Golding to push the lead to double digits. The advantage grew to as many as 24 points midway through the half, and the Giants maintained control the rest of the way despite a late Notre Dame push.

Notre Dame of Maryland (12-9, 5-2 United East) was led by Marlon Lewis with 22 points, while Ricardo Ross added 16. Carlos Green scored 12 points and Chandler Johnson finished with 11. The Gators shot 46.0 percent from the field and went 23-of-29 from the free-throw line.

Keystone's depth also proved to be a factor, as the Giants received 28 points from their bench and held a 36-30 edge in points in the paint.

The Giants will host Penn State Berks on Wednesday, Jan. 28, with tipoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
