Men’s Basketball Defeated at St. Mary’s

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.- The Keystone College men's basketball team fell on the road to St. Mary's College of Maryland, 67–54, Saturday afternoon in United East Conference action at the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center.

The Seahawks opened the game with a strong first half, building a 31–23 advantage at the break. Keystone struggled to find a rhythm offensively in the opening 20 minutes, shooting just over 24 percent from the floor, but remained within striking distance by limiting second-chance opportunities.

St. Mary's extended its lead early in the second half with a 12–4 run, pushing the margin to double digits. The Giants answered with a brief surge midway through the half, cutting the deficit to single digits following baskets from Jden Golding (Jacksonville, Fla./Clay) and Ahmodrion Jones (Wilmington, Del./Delcastle Tech), but could not sustain the momentum.

The Seahawks sealed the game at the foul line down the stretch, converting consistently from the charity stripe. St. Mary's shot better than 42 percent in the second half and finished the game 18-for-21 at the free-throw line.

Golding led Keystone with 12 points, while Jones added 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Jeramiah Maxwell-Lawus (Philadelphia, Pa./Belmont Charter) chipped in seven points and three offensive rebounds. The Giants finished the contest shooting 29.2 percent from the field and 4-for-26 from three-point range.

James Crimaudo paced St. Mary's with a game-high 17 points, while Jake Koverman and Korey Blair each connected on three three-pointers for the Seahawks.

Keystone (5-16, 3-7 United East) will host SUNY- Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.
