GALLOWAY, N.J. — The Keystone College baseball team delivered a complete offensive performance on Monday afternoon, using a dominant middle stretch to defeat Stockton University, 11–3.
Keystone improved its record to .500 at 7-7 while the Ospreys drop to 4-9. The Giants will host William Paterson in the team's 2026 home opener on Wednesday, March 25 at 3:30 p.m.
After a scoreless first inning, the Giants struck first in the second. Emilio Portes (Miami, Fla./Monsignor Pace) sparked the rally with a single before Dillion Bird (Westlake, La./Sulphur) ripped an RBI double down the left-field line to plate the game's first run. Moments later, Ethan Schimony (State College, Pa./State College Area) added a sacrifice fly, giving Keystone an early 2–0 lead.
On the mound, Ethan Pollack (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) kept Stockton off balance early, working 3.1 innings while allowing no hits and striking out four, navigating early walks without surrendering momentum.
The game turned decisively in the fourth inning when Keystone erupted for five runs, capitalizing on both timely hitting and Stockton miscues.
After reaching on a passed ball, Benny Hess (Reading, Ohio/Reading Community) helped ignite the rally, while Portes drew a walk to put multiple runners on. Ethan Schimony (State College, Pa./State College Area) delivered the big blow with a two-RBI single up the middle, extending the lead to four.
Moments later, Dee Rice (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) crushed a two-run home run to left field, pushing the advantage to 6–0 and energizing the Giants' dugout.
Keystone continued to apply pressure as Colson Bennett (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) singled and later scored on an RBI single from Carlos Pascual (Paterson, N.J./International), capping the five-run frame and stretching the lead to 7–0.
The Giants continued to manufacture runs in the fifth inning when Bird and Schimony again set the table. A well-executed sacrifice bunt by Rice brought home another run, extending the lead to 8–1.
Keystone's ability to score through multiple methods—extra-base hits, sacrifice flies, bunts, and aggressive baserunning—kept Stockton on its heels throughout the afternoon.
Following Pollack's start, Jacob McTigue (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) entered in relief and delivered a standout performance, earning the win after tossing 3.2 innings of one-hit, shutout baseball with three strikeouts.
McTigue effectively neutralized any momentum Stockton attempted to build, consistently getting ahead in counts and inducing weak contact.
Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) closed out the final two innings, allowing two runs but preserving the comfortable Keystone lead.
After Stockton plated two runs in the eighth to trim the deficit to 9–3, Keystone quickly responded in the ninth.
With two runners on, Colson Bennett (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) delivered a clutch two-RBI single, pushing the lead to 11–3 and eliminating any chance of a late comeback.
Keystone's lineup produced 11 hits and 11 runs, with contributions throughout:
- Colson Bennett (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney): 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 2 stolen bases
- Ethan Schimony (State College, Pa./State College Area): 2 hits, 3 RBIs, 2 runs
