Keystone Sweeps United East Twinbill in Flag Football Action Saturday

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Keystone College flag football team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Cedar Crest 14-6 before closing the day with a 31-0 shutout victory over Lancaster Bible. Keystone used a strong defensive effort throughout the afternoon and received key contributions on both sides of the ball to complete the sweep.

In the opener against Cedar Crest, Keystone struck first with a safety and never trailed. The Giants added to their lead in the second quarter when Desiree Stamps (Alpharetta, Ga./Centennial) connected with Hailee Hackett (Carmicahel, Calif./Rio Americano) for a touchdown pass to make it 8-0. Cedar Crest pulled within two points in the third quarter after an interception return for a touchdown, but Keystone answered later in the frame when Stamps rushed for a score to secure the 14-6 win.

Keystone finished with 194 total yards in the contest while holding Cedar Crest to just 71 total yards and minus-seven rushing yards. Stamps led the way offensively, completing 15-of-23 passes for 78 yards and one touchdown while adding 98 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Hackett recorded eight receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown, while the Giants defense forced three interceptions in the win. Tayana Bibbins (Lincoln, Del./Sussex Technical) had two interceptions, while Hackett added another.

Keystone carried that momentum into the second game of the day and put together its most complete performance in a 31-0 shutout over Lancaster Bible. The Giants opened the scoring in the first quarter when Hackett returned an interception 43 yards for a touchdown. Keystone added to the lead later in the quarter on a touchdown reception by Jayda Price (York, Pa./William Penn), then extended the margin with another Price score in the second quarter before Stamps added a rushing touchdown in the third. A Jayda Price (York, Pa./William Penn) interception proved to be to much for the Chargers to amount to any sort of score in the contest, as the first-year grabbed the pass and returned the ball for a 37 yard interception to ice the game 31-0.

The Giants totaled 202 yards of offense and nine first downs in the victory, while the defense held Lancaster Bible to 101 total yards and forced three interceptions. Stamps completed 15-of-23 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns, while Price turned in a standout performance with six catches for 63 yards and two receiving touchdowns while also adding a rushing score. Hackett added 17 rushing yards, 22 receiving yards, and the interception return touchdown in a strong all-around effort. Keystone also recorded two sacks and never allowed Lancaster Bible to reach the scoreboard.

The Giants jump back into action at home for the second time this season as the team welcomes in Penn State Harrisburg in a United East Conference showdown scheduled for April 1 at 6 PM.
