La Plume, PA- The Keystone College flag football was bested by Penn State Harrisburg Wednesday afternoon, falling to the their United East foe, 34-6. Despite the loss, the Giants celebrated their first touchdown at home this season, punching the ball into the Lions end zone for six late in the fourth quarter.
The Lions struck early and built a 13-0 lead after the opening quarter before extending the advantage to 28-0 at halftime. Penn State Harrisburg totaled 287 yards of offense, including 168 through the air and 119 on the ground. Keystone continued to battle throughout the second half and broke through in the fourth quarter. With 8:45 remaining, Desiree Stamps (Alpharetta, Ga./Centennial) connected with Jayda Price (York, Pa./William Penn) on a six-yard touchdown pass to put the Giants on the board.
Stamps led Keystone through the air, completing 19-of-30 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown, while also adding four tackles and an interception on the defensive side. Hailee Hackett (Carmicahel, Calif./Rio Americano) added three completions and contributed on the ground with four rushing attempts.
Price turned in a strong all-around effort for the Giants, hauling in nine receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown while also leading the team with 35 rushing yards. Phaneirra Barnett (Baltimore, Md./Edgewood) added five catches for 37 yards, and Tayana Bibbins (Lincoln, Del./Sussex Technical) chipped in 42 receiving yards.
Keystone looks to bounce back into the win column as the team heads out to Schuylkill Haven to take on Manor College and Penn State Schuylkill on April 7.Â
