Eight Baseball Players Named to United East All-Conference Teams, Cooper Ryan Named Pitcher of the Year, Jamie Shevchik Named Coach of the Year

LATHAM, NY- The United East Conference has released its end-of-year All-Conference teams for baseball, as Keystone College was well represented across the board following a strong 2026 season that saw the Giants earn the No. 1 seed in the United East Tournament and collect several major conference awards.

Keystone landed three players on the First Team. Dante Ruby (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) (Middle Infield), Cooper Ryan (State College, Pa./State College Area) (Starting Pitcher), and Ray Moreta (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) (Designated Hitter) were each recognized after standout seasons that helped drive the Giants' success throughout conference play.

Ryan also highlighted the major award winners for the Giants, earning United East Pitcher of the Year honors after anchoring Keystone's pitching staff all season long. His consistency on the mound played a key role in the Giants' rise to the top of the standings.

Keystone also placed four student-athletes on the Second Team. Benny Hess (Reading, Ohio/Reading Community) (Catcher), Ethan Schimony (State College, Pa./State College Area) (Corner Infield), Dee Rice (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) (Outfield), and Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) (Relief Pitcher) were honored for their steady contributions across a demanding conference schedule. Leam Powell (Phillipsport, N.Y./Chapel Field Christian) (Starting Pitcher) rounded out Keystone's All-Conference selections with a Third Team nod.

The awards cap off a season in which Keystone finished at the top of the United East standings, securing the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament after a strong and consistent regular season. The Giants showed growth throughout the year, finding ways to win behind improved pitching depth, timely hitting, and a defense that continued to tighten as the season progressed.

A major milestone also marked the year, as head coach Jamie Shevchik reached 800 career wins. Shevchik's leadership was recognized again as he was named United East Coach of the Year, further cementing a season that reflected both program success and sustained excellence.

From top to bottom, Keystone's success was a team effort. Ruby, Ryan, and Moreta led the First Team selections, while Hess, Schimony, Rice, and Valles played key roles across the roster. Powell's recognition added another strong arm to a pitching staff that helped carry the Giants through the grind of conference play.

The All-Conference teams are voted on by coaches from across the conference and recognize the top performers from the 2026 season.

Pitcher of the Year:

Cooper Ryan (State College, Pa./State College Area): Ryan appeared in 14 games...he pitched a total of 57.2 innings, finishing the year with a 3.59 ERA...he finished the year with a 7-1 record, recording one save against Maritime (NY)...tallied 68 strikeouts against 245 batters faced...pitched at least 6 innings in four contests, with a season high coming against Penn State Brandywine with 7.1 innings pitched on 5/1/26...set a season high with 8 strikeouts against Cairn on 4/24/26

Coach of the Year:

Jamie Shevchik: Shevchik reached 800 career wins in thrilling fashion, defeating Penn State Brandywine in the United East Conference Playoffs. Shevchik's historic record at Keystone College now sits at 801-282 (.746).

First-Team All-Conference:

Dante Ruby (Archbald, Pa./Valley View): Ruby appeared in and started all 38 games for the Giants...he finished the year with 56 hits, batting .409...Ruby rounded the bases 56 times, while also knocking in 36 RBI's...he finished the season with 14 doubles, 2 triples, and 6 home runs...he drew 26 walks, with 15 coming from a HBP...set a season high of four hits against Valley Forge on 4/10/26...set a season high with two home runs against Cairn on 4/24/26...finished the season with 11 stolen bases...tallied a United East Player of the Week Honors early this season

Ethan Schimony (State College, Pa./State College Area): Schimony appeared in 33 games...he tallied 37 hits, with 105 AB's...finished the season with a .352 batting average...tallied 23 RBI's, with 3 doubles and 2 triples...earned 20 walks, with 10 coming from HBP's...stole 5 bases throughout the season...set a season high of 4 hits against Valley Forge on 4/10/26...knocked in 5 RBI's against Valley Forge on 4/10/26...tallied 14 putouts against Penn State Abington on 5/8/26
