LATHAM, NY- The United East Conference has announced that Keystone College men's soccer sophomore John Covert (Union Beach, NJ/Keyport) has been named the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week following an impressive two-game stretch that helped lead the Giants to consecutive victories. Covert recorded two goals during the week, including a game-winning goal against Penn State Schuylkill and an insurance goal against SUNY Cobleskill, earning his first conference Player of the Week honor of the 2026 season.

Covert opened the week with a strong performance against Penn State Schuylkill on September 16, helping the Giants secure a 2-1 victory on the road. He registered three shots, placing two on goal, and found the back of the net with the game-winning goal. His scoring effort proved decisive as Keystone earned its first victory of the 2026 campaign.

The Giants carried that momentum into their September 19 matchup against SUNY Cobleskill, where Covert once again made his presence felt offensively. The Keystone standout recorded two shots, both of which landed on goal, before scoring the third goal of the contest to give the Giants an insurance goal in their 3-0 victory over the Fighting Tigers. The performance marked Covert's second goal in as many games and helped Keystone close out the week with back-to-back wins.

Through seven games this season, Covert has contributed two goals and four points while recording 11 shots and five shots on goal. His four points have come during a stretch in which the Giants have begun building momentum, with both of his goals coming in Keystone victories.

Keystone jumps back into action on September 23 against Moravian University at home at 6:30 PM.
