
The 2015 season marks Coach Homer's sixth year as a member of Keystone College's baseball team's coaching staff and his second seaon as the Giants' Associate Head Coach.
Coach Homer has been instrumental in leading Keystone to CSAC Championships and NCAA Regional appearances in each of his five seasons as a member of the Giants' coaching staff, highlighted by the team's 2011 trip to the NCAA Division III Collegiate World Series.Â
Coach Homer, who earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Keystone, played for the Giants from 1999-2001. During his two-year career at Keystone, he compiled 15 wins with an earned run average of 1.91. Among his highlights was a perfect game in 2001. Coach Homer was inducted into Keystone College's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
After Keystone he continued his athletic and academic careers at Marist College, attending on a baseball scholarship. While at Marist he set the single season record for saves in a season with 11 and in a career with 18. As a result he was a 24th round selection by the Detroit Tigers in the 2003 Major League Baseball draft.
He was a member of the Tigers organization from 2003 through 2008, reaching as high as Double A. He was a three-time all star during his five years with the Tigers, while also earning Reliever of the Year honors in 2003 with Oneonta (NY). In 2005 he set a single season record with 29 saves for the Lakeland (FL) Tigers and as a result was named the Organizational Reliever of the Year.
Following shoulder surgery in 2006, Homer was released by the Tigers in 2008. He completed his professional career by playing independent baseball in 2008 with the Grand Prairie Airhogs and in 2009 with the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
In his seven year professional career he compiled 95 saves with a 4.03 ERA.
