Jared Paulin

Keystone College welcomes Jared Paulin LAT, ATC as the full-time Athletic Trainer on our Sports Medicine Team since the fall of 2024. We value Paulin's previous experiences with the University of PittsburghFootball and Baseball and Lakeland High School. He is an excellent addition to our sports medicine program to provide high quality healthcare to all our student-athletes.

Paulin is a Certified Athletic Trainer through the National Board of Certification and is licensed through the State of Pennsylvania.

Paulin graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2021 where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Athletic Training. While enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh, Jared completed his research looking into whether or not an increased “Q-angle” in female athletes had any correlation to an increased risk of MCL injuries.

He had the opportunity to work with Pitt football and baseball. During the Pitt football 2019 season, Paulin was a part of the sports medicine team that helped them win the 2019 Quick Lane Bowl Game in Detroit, Michigan.

He is Keystone College’s primary athletic trainer for all sports, excluding football.

Prior to Keystone, Paulin was the Head Athletic Trainer at Lakeland High School from 2022-2023 before becoming a Certified Orthotic Fitter. Paulin also spent time at Robert Morris University working with women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse, where he navigated the ever-changing healthcare environment due to the COVID pandemic. When asked to share how COVID affected his education and ability as an athletic trainer, he said, “It was extremely challenging, the healthcare and athletic worlds were constantly changing. In the long run, I feel it made me stronger as an athletic trainer because it really pushed the limits of reacting to immediate unknown circumstances. You can never predict what will happen next in athletic training, so I think that was a positive to take from such a negative situation.

He concluded his college rotations at Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he covered baseball, basketball, volleyball, track and field, wrestling, and men’s lacrosse. Immediately after graduation, Paulin worked as a Sports Performance Coach with youth through college athletes. His focus was on training athletes to become stronger, more agile, and help improve their athletic performance. Paulin’s primary interest is baseball and working on pitching and throwing mechanics in relation to strength training and functional mobility.

His decision to become an Athletic Trainer stem from his experiences growing up. When asked for his reasoning, Paulin stated, “I never had an athletic trainer in high school. Coming from a small town area, none of the schools we played had athletic trainers. If we got hurt, we had to play through it or go to the emergency room. I wanted to make sure no student-athletes had to go through the same experience.” Having been a three-sport athlete, Paulin wanted a career that kept him involved in athletics while also being able to fulfill his passion for helping others succeed and remain healthy.

Paulin resides in Simpson, Pennsylvania with his wife and 3 dogs. Outside of athletic training, he is an avid outdoorsman and can frequently be found hunting, fishing, or hiking. Athletics still also play a major role in his life as he golfs and plays basketball and soccer.
