Langhorne, PA – 110 minutes of action was not enough to determine a winner in Saturday afternoon's Colonial States Athletic Conference women's soccer game between Keystone College and Cairn University as the two teams played to a 1-1 tie.
Jenna Moranski (Gardiner, NY/New Paltz) scored the equalizing goal in the 64
th minute of a
Rebecca Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Aberdeen) assist for the Giants, who move to 3-6-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in conference play while the Highanders' record now stands at 2-5-1 overall (1-2-1 CSAC).
Cairn struck first in Saturday's conference game as Laurissa Wager scored unassisted in the 20
th minute to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. The Highlanders dictated play throughout the first half, outshooting Keystone by an 11-1 margin, but placed only four of those attempts on target and Giants' goalkeeper
Katelyn Coon (Selden, NY/St. John the Baptist ) made three saves to keep the visitors within striking distance.
Keystone turned the tides in the second half and held an 11-7 advantage in shots for the period. The Giants got on the board in the 64
th minute when Moranski headed home a shot on a ball served in by Lewis for her second goal of the season.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net throughout the rest of regulation, or through the two, ten-minute sudden death overtime periods. Cairn held a 5-1 advantage in shots in the extra 20 minutes of play, but Coon was there to stop the only shot either team placed on goal in overtime.
Cairn held a 23-13 advantage in shots for the game while claiming a 7-4 edge in corner kicks for the contest.
Coon finished the game with five saves while Highlanders' goalkeeper Mackenzie Paugh made six stops on the afternoon.
Moranski and
Cassie Ehrhart (Stamford, NY/Stamford Central) took three shots apiece to lead Keystone while
Olivia Kashuba (Dickson City, PA/Summit Christian Academy),
Lauren Nardelli (Eynon, PA/Valley View), and
Rashelly Cruz (Woodside, NY/Math, Science, Research & Technology) took two shots apiece against Cairn.
Keystone returns to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Immaculata University in a CSAC game scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on the turf field in La Plume.
