Radnor, PA – Cabrini College extended their Colonial States Athletic Conference unbeaten streak to 26 games with a 5-0 victory over visiting Keystone College in women's soccer action on Thursday afternoon. The Cavaliers (5-5-2), who are now 24-0-2 in their last 26 league matches, improves to 5-0-1 in conference play this fall while the loss drops the Giants to 5-6-1 overall and 5-2 in the CSAC.
Cabrini used a pair of first half goals to hold a 2-0 advantage after 45 minutes of play on Thursday in Radnor. Meghan Martin opened the scoring in the 16
th minute, finding the back of the net after taking a pass from Lisette Hrapmann before Devon Miller doubled the Cavaliers' advantage in the 23
rd minute with Julianna Ardire assisting on the tally.
After being outshot 12-3 in the first half, Keystone battled to stay within striking distance, but Cabrini iced the game by scoring three goals in a span of just 2:22 to ice the game. Allie Vallen netted the host's third goal in the 73
rd minute by taking a long pass from Brittany Runyen to score before Runyen scored a goal of her own off short cross from Martin just 46 seconds later. Martin closed out the scoring in the 75
th minute with a chip shot from 20 yards out.
Cabrini doubled up the Giants in shots, 22-11 on the day while holding a 10-6 edge in shots on target. The Cavaliers also claimed a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Alivia Dietsch picked up the win in goal for the hosts by making four saves in 74:49 of action while Marissa Jenkins preserved the shutout with a pair of stops in the final 15:11 in Cabrini's goal.
Sarah Heintz (Glenside, PA/Abington) made five saves and yielded a pair of goals in the first half for Keystone while
Katelyn Coon (Selden, NY/St. John the Baptist ) allowed three goals without making a save in the second half in her first appearance in goal this fall.
Cassie Ehrhart (Stamford, NY/Stamford Central) led the Giants with three shots for the game including a pair of shots on goal while
Nina Carbonaro (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) also attempted three shots in the loss.
Nisa Cortes (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) had her five-game goal-scoring streak snapped despite putting two shots on frame.
Keystone will look to get back in the win column on Saturday as they host local rival Summit University in a conference matchup that will kickoff at 11:00 a.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend.
