La Plume, PA – Keystone College cruised to a three-set sweep over the visiting University of Valley Forge in a non-conference volleyball match played in the Gambal Athletic Center on Tuesday night. The Giants, who posted an outstanding, .361 hitting percentage in the match, improve to 17-4 this fall. Keystone's 17 wins this fall are the most since the 1993 squad went 19-7.
The Giants needed just 52 minutes to dispose of the Patriots (5-15), winning each set by at least 14 points. Keystone won the first set 25-10 before pulling away midway through the second set for a 25-11 decision that gave the hosts a 2-0 edge. The Giants closed out the win with a 25-9 triumph in set three.
Hannah Zuchowski (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) posted a match-high 10 kills on the night to go along with four digs while
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) contributed eight kills.
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) and
Ashley Williams (Virginia Beach, VA/Green Run) added five kills apiece with Williams leading all players with eight service aces.
Carol Mosier (Hunlock Creek, PA/Lake-Lehman) recorded a match-leading 17 assists to go along with five digs while
Sydney Binkley (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) dished out 10 helpers while serving up a trio of aces.
Dana Carey (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) posted a match-high 12 digs and
Shatia Silas (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) chipped in with a pair of blocks for the Giants, who had 18 aces on the night.
Megan Freed led Valley Forge with five kills while Lindsay LeSueur had three kills and six digs. Jamie Summers handed out a team-leading 10 assists to go along with five digs while Julia Evans paced the Patriots with seven digs in the loss.
Keystone will next host reigning Colonial States Athletic Conference champion Cabrini College on Thursday night in starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center.
