Keystone Falls at Rosemont in CSAC Finale

VanAmburg and Hawkins score two goals apiece for Giants

Rosemont, PA – Holding a 4-2 lead early in the second half of Saturday's Colonial Athletic Conference women's lacrosse game, Rosemont College outscored visiting Keystone College 14-2 over the final 26:39 to pull away with an 18-4 victory.   The Ravens improve to 4-9 on the season and 3-6 in the CSAC while denying the Giants their first victory.

Rosemont built a 4-0 lead over the opening 12:27 of Saturday's contest, but Keystone (0-9, 0-9 CSAC) clamped down defensively to keep the Ravens from scoring again in the period in their strongest defense first half of the season.  Emily Hawkins (Glenside, PA/Cheltenham) got the Giants on the board with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation with an unassisted goal and the hosts would hold a 4-1 edge at halftime.

Brittany VanAmburg (Montour Falls, NY/Odessa-Montour)'s first collegiate goal just two minutes into the second half cut Keystone's deficit to 4-2, but Rosemont countered with the game's next four goals to claim an 8-2 advantage.  VanAmburg's second tally of the game trimmed the Giants' deficit to five goals just under 22 minutes left on the clock, but the Ravens answered with a decisive ten-goal before Hawkins netted her second goal of the game and team-leading 12th tally of the spring as time expired to wrap up the scoring.

Rosemont's Jennifer South led all players with five goals and one assists while Kerry Hars tallied five goals for the hosts.  Ali Osorio also tallied a hat trick for the Ravens, who got 13 saves from winning goalie Nia Hall.

AAliya Hayes (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) paced Keystone with five groundballs, Hawkins had a team-best six draw controls to go along with four groundballs and one caused turnover, while Kaelyn Englert (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) scooped up three groundballs on the day.

Domonique Swann (Waldorf, MD/Westlake) suffered the loss in the Giants' cage despite making 11 saves.

For the game, Keystone held a 13-10 edge in draw control while Rosemont outshot the Giants 32-22 while winning the groundball battle by a 28-18 margin.

Keystone will close out their inaugural season on Thursday afternoon with a non-conference game at Lycoming College.  Opening draw between the Giants and Warriors is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
