Domonique Swann (Waldorf, MD/Westlake) made a season-high 11 saves, but it wasn't enough as Keystone College's women's lacrosse team suffered a 19-1 setback to host Neumann University in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Thursday afternoon. The Knights, who held a 15-1 lead at halftime, improve to 5-4 overall on the year including a 4-1 mark in conference play.
Neumann opened the scoring just 30 seconds into Thursday's contest and built an 8-0 advantage in the first ten minutes. The Knights pushed their lead into the 10-goal running clock at the 16:17 mark of the first half and held a 15-goal lead before
Kaelyn Englert (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) netted the first goal of her collegiate career off an assist from
Nina Hodanich (Scranton, PA/West Scranton) with 3:55 remaining in the opening 30 minutes of play to put Keystone (0-5, 0-5 CSAC) on the board.
Neumann, who held a 35-5 advantage in shots for the game, closed out the scoring with four goals in the second half. The Knights also collected 30 groundballs on the afternoon compared to 15 for the Giants.
Jordan Hopkins finished with four goals and one assist, Alexa McIntyre added four points on two goals and two helpers, while Amanda Fedak and Diana Caicedo netted three goals apiece to lead Neumann's attack.
Gabby Curry picked up the win in the Knights' cage after making a pair of saves in the first half while Becca Wallace made one second half save for the hosts.
Keystone, who held a 12-10 edge in draw controls for the contest, was paced by six from Hodanich and four from Englert.
Gabrielle Bosshard (Lakewood, PA/Honesdale) and
Yauris Romero (Dedham, MA/Dedham) also collected draw controls for the Giants.
Swann and
AAliya Hayes (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) tied for the team-lead with four groundballs apiece while Englert and
Shatia Silas (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) picked up a pair of groundball each in the setback.
Keystone will shoot for the first win in program history on Thursday afternoon when they visit Cedar Crest College for a CSAC contest slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
