Denmon, Mellot Set School Records in Keystone’s Loss at Albright

Thompson scores Giants’ lone goal off Pacheco assist in 6-1 setback

Reading, PA – Adrienne Mellot (Boiling Springs, PA/Boiling Springs) set a Keystone College record with five defensive saves and Amy Denmon (Beaumont, PA/Lake-Lehman) made a program-best 26 saves in the Giants' 6-1 loss at Albright College in a non-conference game on Thursday night.  The Lions level their record at 3-3 on the season while the Giants, who also got a pair of defensive saves from Justine Firmstone (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) and a goal from Katie Thompson (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth Area), remain winless in four contests this fall.

Albright built a 4-0 lead at halftime behind a pair of goals from both Amanda Smith and Tracy Snyder.  Smith opened the scoring in the 15th minute off a Kasey Neiderer assist before doubling the Lions' lead in the 23rd minute off an assist from Snyder.  Snyder pushed the host's lead to 3-0 in the 26th minute with Cassidy Barrow assisting on the goal before adding an unassisted goal with 30 seconds left in the period.

Keystone got on the board in the 45th minute as Thompson scored the first goal of her collegiate career with Genesis Pacheco (Mount Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) assisting on the play.

Smith completed her hat trick in the 59th minute with an unassisted tally before Snyder rounded out a hat trick of her own in the 66th minute by scoring off of a feed from Jordan Hansbury.

Albright held a 54-12 advantage in shots for the game while holding a slim, 15-12 edge in penalty corners.

Aileen Taylor picked up the win in goal for the Lions after making one save in the first half while Alicia Moore made seven stops in the second half.

Denmon suffered the loss despite making a school-record 26 saves in the loss for Keystone.

Mellot now has 10 defensive saves on the season which also breaks a school record while the senior's 23 career defensive saves are also tops in the program's history.

Keystone will look for their first win of the season next Wednesday when they visit Wells College for a non-conference game scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. in Aurora, New York.
