Williamsport, PA – Meghann Jackson and Hannah Rinaldo recorded five points apiece to lead host Lycoming College to a 7-0 victory over Keystone College in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon. The Warriors, who opened up a 3-0 halftime lead before adding four goals in the second half, improve to 2-1 on the season while the Giants fall to 0-2-1.
Jordan Lazarich opened the scoring for Lycoming in the 12
th minute by scoring after taking a pass from Katie Cox. Jackson doubled the Warriors' lead in the 20
th minute by converting a penalty kick before Nour Hasan ripped a shot from 25 yards out into the upper left corner of the net to give the hosts a 3-0 advantage in the 24
th minute.
A give-and-go play between Rinaldo and Jackson in the 49
th minute resulted in Rinaldo netting her first goal of the game before Jackson made it a 5-0 game in the 51
st minute with Lazarich assisting on Jackson's second goal of the game.
Rinaldo set up Olivia Mendler's 72
nd minute tally before Rinaldo capped the scoring in the 73
rd minute with her second goal of the contest which was set up by Katie Katzenberger.
Lycoming finished the game with a 21-9 advantage in shots including a 15-4 edge in shots on goal. The Warriors also generated six corner kick chances to none for the Giants.
Helen Ross and Joelle Winey both played a half in goal for Lycoming and made two saves apiece to record the combined shutout while
Sarah Heintz (Glenside, PA/Abington) made seven saves in net for Keystone.
Jenna Moranski (Gardiner, NY/New Paltz) led the Giants with three shots while
Nisa Cortes (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) took two shots to lead the visitor's offensively.
Keystone will now shoot for their first victory of the season on Saturday when they host Mount Aloysius College in a non-conference game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the turf field in La Plume.
