Hackettstown, N.J. – Keystone College closed out the Colonial States Athletic Conference portion of its schedule on Wednesday evening with a three-set victory at Centenary University as the Giants made quick work of the Cyclones. The Giants lift their record to 12-15 overall and finish the fall with an 8-3 mark in conference play.
Keystone's playoff seeding will be determined by the result of Thursday night's match between Cabrini University and Notre Dame of Maryland University. A Cabrini win would clinch the #4 seed and a home first round playoff game for the Giants while a win by the Gators would put the Giants on the road with the #5 seed.
Keystone dominated all three sets on Wednesday night, claiming the first game 25-11 before taking a 2-0 lead with a 25-8 decision in set two. The Giants secured their ninth sweep of the fall with a 25-13 victory in the third frame.
Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) and
Nicole Frascati (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) tied for a match-high with 10 kills apiece for Keystone while
Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) put down seven kills for the Giants, who hit .400 as a team in the victory.
Malley Bowen (Owego, N.Y./Tioga Central) led all players with 19 assists while
Halle Stalsitz (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) with 10 assists on the evening.
Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) served up seven aces and picked up a match-high 17 digs, Bowen had 11 digs, and Beatty,
Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), and
Nicki Yeager (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) had three aces apiece.
Nicci Veras led Centenary (1-18, 0-10 CSAC) with three kills while Melissa Krueger had five assists and nine digs for the Cyclones, who posted a -.060 hitting percentage as a team in the loss.
Keystone will wrap up the regular season on Saturday with a tri-match at Ramapo College. The Giants will take on the host Roadrunners at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 12:00 p.m. match against the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
