Volleyball and Men’s Soccer Hosting CSAC Playoff Games This Week

Volleyball to host Immaculata on Tuesday, men’s soccer hosting semifinal on Thursday

La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College's volleyball and men's soccer teams will host Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff games this week following outstanding regular seasons this fall.  The Giants are looking for their first CSAC championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in both sports.

Volleyball

The volleyball team earned the #4 seed in this fall's CSAC postseason tournament after posting an 8-3 record in conference matches while finishing the regular season with a 13-16 overall record.  Keystone will host fifth-seeded Immaculata University on Tuesday night in a first round match starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center.  The Mighty Macs claimed the #5 seed by going 7-4 in conference play while posting a 9-11 overall record.

Keystone, who making its third straight trip to the CSAC playoffs, defeated Immaculata in three sets during the regular season, winning by scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-20 on October 14 in La Plume.  The Giants are looking for their first-ever CSAC title after finishing as the CSAC runner-up last fall after suffering a heart-breaking 3-2 setback to Cabrini University in the CSAC championship match.

#3 Marywood University will host #6 Notre Dame of Maryland University in Tuesday's other first round match with #1 Cabrini and #2 Neumann University waiting to host Tuesday's winners on Thursday in semifinal matches.  The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday on the campus of the best remaining seed for the CSAC championship with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the line.

Men's Soccer

The men's soccer team claimed the #2 seed in this year's CSAC playoffs, the program's highest-ever finish in the regular season, Keystone went 12-4-1 overall and 7-1-1 in conference games during the regular season to earn a program-best 22 points in league play.  The Giants will host a CSAC semifinal game on Thursday starting at 7:00 p.m. on the turf field in La Plume against an opponent to be determined by Tuesday's first round matchups.

Keystone earned its third straight CSAC playoff berth this fall and the program's sixth trip to the postseason in the last eight years.  The Giants last appeared in the conference semifinals in 2015 and are looking to advance to the CSAC finals for the first time in program history after suffering a first round exit last fall after suffering a 2-1 loss to Neumann at home.

Cabrini is the top seed in this fall's postseason tournament and will host Thursday's other semifinal matchup.  #3 Centenary University hosts #6 Cairn University while #4 Neumann hosts #5 Marywood in Tuesday's first round pairings.  Keystone's potential semifinal opponents are Centenary, Neumann, and Marywood, who the Giants went 2-0-1 against during the regular season with wins over the Cyclones (3-2) and Pacers (2-1) while playing to a scoreless tie with the Knights.

The winners of Thursday's semifinals will play for the CSAC championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on the campus of the top remaining seed.
