Oswego, N.Y. – Keystone College outscored Medgar Evers College 20-2 in the first quarter of Saturday afternoon's consolation game of the Max Ziel Tournament hosted by Oswego State and cruised to a 78-25 victory in non-conference women's basketball action. The Giants are now 1-2 on the young season while the Cougars remain winless after three contests.
Bre Moore (Charleston, W.Va./Pennwood), who was named to the All-Tournament Team, scored a game-high 26 points to go along with 13 rebounds while
Mayah Kitchen (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) also added a double-double on 12 points a game-high 18 boards while leading all players with four assists to pace Keystone.
The Giants netted the first eight points of Saturday's contest and held Medgar Evers to just one field goal while ending the first stanza on a 12-0 run. The Cougars pulled to within 19 points in the second period, but Keystone extended its lead to as many as 26 points before taking a 37-15 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
The Giants outscored Medgar Evers 17-9 in the third frame to hold a comfortable 54-24 cushion heading into the fourth quarter where Keystone outscored the Cougars 24-11 to close out the game.
Joining Moore and Kitchen in double-figures for the Giants were
Khaliah Gordon (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Wood), who had 17 points and a game-high seven steals, and
Faith Shiffer (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove), who finished the day with 13 points.
Samy Farah (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) pulled down 14 rebounds for Keystone while held a 72-44 advantage on the glass in the contest while shooting 29 percent from the field for the game including a 27.8 effort from three-point range while hitting on 76 percent of its free throw attempts.
Malecka Davis led Medgar Evers with 14 points while Cyndi Whyte added 12 points for the Cougars, who went 26.8 percent from the floor in the contest and 38.5 percent from the free throw line.
Keystone will visit King's College on Tuesday night for a non-conference game starting at 6:00 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre.
