Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – King's College led from start to finish in a 77-52 victory over visiting Keystone College in non-conference women's basketball action on Tuesday night. The Monarchs improve to 3-1 on the season with the win while the Giants slip to 1-3 on the young campaign.
King's scored seven of the first eight points of Tuesday evening's contest and used an 8-0 run to open up a 15-3 advantage. The Monarchs would go on to hold a 17-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Samy Farah (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) brought Keystone to within eight points to start the second period, but the Monarchs countered with the next 12 points to claim a 29-9 advantage with 7:05 remaining in the stanza. The hosts would lead by as many as 25 points before holding a 42-20 cushion at halftime after
Emily Hutton (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) closed the scoring in the period with a three-pointer.
King's extended its lead to 66-33 at the end of the third frame by outscoring the Giants 24-13 in the third quarter.
Despite the deficit, Keystone battled until the very end and outscored the Monarchs 19-11 in the fourth quarter to cut the final margin of defeat to 25 points.
Rebecca Prociak led all scorers with 19 points while Olivia Hoffman added 12 points and five assists for King's, who got a team-high five rebounds from Lindsey Dippre.
The Monarchs connected on 52.5 percent of their attempts from the floor for the game while going 21.4 percent from three-point range and 54.5 percent from the free throw line. The hosts also held a 43-30 advantage in rebounds for the game.
Hutton led Keystone with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds while
Bre Moore (Charleston, W.Va./Pennwood) and
Autum Kitajima (Williamsport, Pa./Wellsboro Area) added nine points apiece in the loss. Kitajima tied for a game-high with five assists while
Maddy Moro (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) and
Faith Shiffer (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) collected two steals apiece for the Giants.
The visitors finished the contest shooting 34 percent from the field, 43.8 percent from long distance, and 42.9 percent from the stripe.
Keystone will open the Colonial States Athletic Conference portion of its scheduled next Wednesday at Clarks Summit University. Opening tip between the Giants and Defenders is set for 6:00 p.m. in Clarks Summit.
