Aston, Pa. – Neumann University remained atop the Colonial States Athletic Conference softball standings by sweeping visiting Keystone College in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Knights lift their record to 22-10 on the year including a 17-1 mark in conference play while the Giants slip to 10-20 this spring and 5-13 in the CSAC while being eliminated from playoff contention.
Game 1
In Sunday's first game, Neumann's Jen Sieminski pitched a one-hitter while Julia Cox drove in six runs to lead the Knights to a 10-0 victory in five innings.
Cox gave Neumann a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run single. Marisa Giordano pushed the host's advantage to four runs with a two-run base hit of her own the following inning before Cox connected on a grand slam to give the Knights an eight-run advantage at the end of two innings of play.
Giordano hit an RBI single in the home third before Jackie Schneider drove in the final run of the game with a sacrifice fly.
Sieminski struck out seven batters and walked one while the only hit she conceded was a two-out single from
Shannon Lloyd (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) in the top of the fourth inning.
Cox led the Knights with three hits as the hosts held a 12-1 advantage in hits for the game.
Alyssa Hughes (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) suffered the loss after yielding eight runs on six hits in two innings in the circle.
Abby Aniska (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) was charged with a pair of runs against on six hits in the final two innings for the Giants.
Game 2
In Sunday's second game, Neumann overcame two early runs by the Giants to post an 8-2 victory.
Keystone got off to a good start in Sunday's nightcap by taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Lloyd drove in
Kaylee Hartman (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Regional) with a double to centerfield before coming home on a throwing error by the Knights after
Emily Long (Shamokin, Pa./Our Lady of Lourdes Regional) singled.
Neumann leveled the contest with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning as Cox hit a two-run double before Kate Korte' connected on an RBI single.
The Knights took the lead for good by scoring on a passed ball in the home second before Cox hit a two-run double. Neumann then took a 7-2 advantage in the fifth inning when Kendall Boardman drove in a pair of runs with a double.
The hosts capped the scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single from Cox.
Taylor Sirolli went the distance on the rubber for Neumann to pick up the win, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out five batters.
Cox went 3-4 with four RBI to once again power the Knights' offense in the game two victory.
Ashley Constable (Bangor, Pa./Bangor Area) suffered the loss after allowing five runs on four hits in 1.2 innings before being relieved by
Jordan Hodle (Plymouth, Pa./Lake-Lehman), who was charged with three runs on nine hits while picking up one strikeout.
Lloyd went 3-4 with a double to pace the Giants' offense in the game two setback.

Keystone will return to the diamond on Wednesday with a non-conference twin bill at Misericordia University. First pitch between the Giants and Cougars is set for 3:00 p.m. in Dallas, Pennsylvania.
