Baltimore, Md. – Greensboro College scored three second half goals to pull away with a 3-0 victory over Keystone in a non-conference women's soccer game played at Notre Dame of Maryland University on Sunday afternoon. The Pride, who have now outscored their opposition 33-0 over their first five games, improve to 5-0 on the season while the Giants slip to 0-3-1 overall.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes of play with Greensboro holding a 4-1 advantage in shots in the first half.
Rebekah Shepherd (South Canaan, Pa./Western Wayne) made four saves in the first and the Keystone defense held tight to keep the high-powered Pride offense off the board.
The game remained scoreless until the 68
th minute when Greensboro found a way to solve the Giants' defense as Angela Niles scored off an assist from Anna Rae Porcelli.
The Pride doubled their lead in the 82
nd minute when Devin D'Agostin scored on a free kick from just outside of the 18-yard box before putting the game away in the 88
th minute when Alexis Chase scored on a fast break.
Greensboro held a 15-6 advantage in shots for the game including a 12-4 lead in shots on goal. The Pride also created 11 corner kick chances to two for the Giants.
Marisa Camuto made four saves to pick up the shutout for Greensboro while Shepherd finished with a career-high nine saves in the loss.
Riley Hayes (Alexandria, Va./Thomas A. Edison) led the Giants with a pair of shots in the contest.
Keystone will look for its first win of the season on Tuesday with a non-conference tilt against SUNY-Delhi starting at 4:00 p.m. on the turf field in La Plume.
