Giants roll over Centenary, 18-4, in CSAC action Thursday behind 6-RBI performance by Pena

Pena's 6-RBI effort is tied for the third-most in a single game in Keystone history

FLEMINGTON, NJ—Junior Jandi Pena (New York, NY/James Monroe Campus High School) had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in six runs and senior Bray Curreri (Eldred, N.Y./Eldred Central) and freshman RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) each belted a home run to lead Keystone College to an 18-4 victory over Centenary University in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Thursday afternoon at Diamond Nation.

The Giants, now 16-7 overall and 4-0 in the conference, belted out 18 hits, including two each by juniors Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant), Jared Campione (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic), and Sebastian De La Cruz (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis), along with sophomore Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) and Curreri.

Keystone's 18 runs were a season high and its 18 hits were the second most by the Giants this year, one shy of the 19 they recorded against Kean University at home on March 24.

Hussein, who extended his hitting streak to 15 games today, got the start on the mound and limited the Cyclones, now 6-12 overall and 0-4 in the CSAC, to just two hits and one run in five innings.

Leading 5-0 after four innings, the Giants broke it open with a 7-run rally in the fifth inning that included a two-run double by Hussein and a three-run double by Pena.  Gouldsbury hit a solo home run in the seventh and Curreri added a solo shot during a four-run rally in the ninth.

Pena belted a two-run double in the second inning and drove in another run in the sixth on a fielder's choice.  His 6-RBI performance is tied for the third-most single game total in Keystone history.
The Giants will host Immaculata University in a CSAC doubleheader this Saturday, April 14, beginning at 12 noon at Christy Mathewson Field in La Plume.
