La PLUME, Pa.—Sophomore midfielder
Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) made sure that Senior Day at Keystone College would be something memorable for teammates
Emily Hawkins (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) and
Nina Hodanich (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton).
Robinson scored seven goals, including the game-winner with 1:53 remaining, to lift the Giants past Gwynedd Mercy, 20-19, in the conference finale for both teams Saturday afternoon at the Athletic Field and Turf Complex.
Sophomore
April Llewellyn (Plains, Pa./Coughlin) chipped in four goals and Hawkins finished with three goals and tied her own single-game record with six assists as Keystone improved to 6-5 overall and wrapped up the number five seed for next weekend's CSAC tournament with a 4-4 league record.
In a game that see-sawed back and forth, Robinson came through in the clutch several times in the second half. She scored four times in the final 16 minutes of play to erase two three-goal deficits.
Gwynedd Mercy, now 5-10 overall and 3-5 in the CSAC, was led by freshman midfielder Victoria Braeunle with six goals and four assists and senior midfielder Lauren Mitros finished with four goals and
two assists. The Griffins held a 47-39 advantage in shots and won 26 of the 41 draw controls.
Senior
Nina Hodanich (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) scored three goals in the first half for Keystone, which took an early 4-1 lead before the Griffins fought back and knotted the game at 7 by intermission.
Keystone will travel to Aston, Pennsylvania, next Saturday, April 28, to take on fourth-seeded Neumann University in a CSAC quarterfinal game.
