Ramapo ends Giants' NCAA World Series hopes with 7-4 win Saturday evening

Keystone puts the wraps on a 34-12 season

Box Score BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.--Keystone College's bid to earn its third trip to the NCAA World Series ended Saturday evening with a 7-4 loss to Ramapo College in an NCAA regional game at Hendy Field on the campus of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

The Giants managed just one hit off Roadrunner starting pitcher Kevin Stewart and three off reliever Riley Weis, but still managed to make a game out of it by cutting a 5-0 deficit down to two runs before Ramapo scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to swing the momentum back in their favor permanently.

Ramapo, now 35-13, will play UMass-Boston, the top seed and the nation's fifth-ranked team tomorrow, with the winner meeting undefeated Oswego St. for the right to advance to next weekend's NCAA World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin.  Yesterday, UMass-Boston defeated Ramapo, 2-1, in 10 innings.

Connor Walsh paced the Roadrunners' 11-hit attack with three hits and seniors Joe Maugeri, Bobby Shannon and Ryan MacNaughton chipped in two apiece.

Senior Bray Curreri (Eldred, N.Y./Eldred Central) belted a solo home run--his third of the year--to open the ninth inning and sophomore Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) and juniors Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) and Jandi Pena (New York, NY/James Monroe Campus High School) had the other three hits for Keystone, which ends its 2018 season with a 34-12 record.

The Giants did manage to bring the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning with two outs, but Weis was able to get a strikeout to end the game.   Weis went five innings in relief and struck out two batters to pick up the victory.
