Shepherd Makes 16 Saves in 5-0 Defeat to Centenary

La PLUME, Pa. - Sept. 29, 2018 - Junior goalkeeper Rebekah Shepherd (South Canaan, Pa./Western Wayne) made 16 saves against visiting Centenary (N.J.) on Saturday but the Keystone College women's soccer team fell 5-0 to the Cyclones in CSAC action.

The Giants are now 1-9-0 (1-1-0 CSAC) and fall to 1-10-0 against Centenary since 2008. The Cyclones improve to 3-6-0 (2-0-0 CSAC). Keystone will host CSAC opponent and local foe Clarks Summit on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 pm for TNT Youth Soccer Night.

The Cyclones scored just 45 seconds into the match and added another goal in the sixth minute. Centenary tacked on three more scores in the second half, outshooting the Giants 36-9 on the day.

Shepherd now has 127 stops this season to bring her career total to 233 saves, passing Sarah Heintz (Glenside, Pa./Abington) for fourth most all-time. Shepherd has tallied double-digit saves in eight of 10 matches this season.

Senior Nisa Cortes (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) led the Giants with three shots while junior Hayden Richner (Nicholson, Pa./Mountain View) provided two shots.
