Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Marywood 16-2

SCRANTON, Pa. - Junior Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) notched her 100th career draw control win and seniors Nisa Cortes (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) and Alex Smith (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) both scored but the Keystone College women's lacrosse team fell at Marywood University 16-2 in non-conference action on Monday evening.

The Giants drop to 1-2 overall and will host Wilkes University on Wednesday, March 20 at 4 p.m. The Pacers improve to 3-2 on the year.

Marywood raced out to a 10-0 lead after one half of play and were ahead 13-0 before Cortes got Keystone on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal with 19:45 to play.

With 4:00 remaining in the game, Smith tallied an unassisted goal of her own.

Overall, Smith led the Giants with four shots while Cortes and Robinson both had two apiece.

Junior April Llewellyn (Plains, Pa./Coughlin) and senior Emily Hutton (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) finished with four ground balls while junior Amy Llewellyn (Plains, Pa./Coughlin) and senior Kayla Bain (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) recorded three caused turnovers. Robinson finished with four draw controls.

Junior Daphne Leenas (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) made 12 stops while recording three ground balls and one caused turnover in the loss.
