Leenas Makes 14 Saves in 10-7 Loss to Del Val

La PLUME, Pa. – Junior Daphne Leenas (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) made 14 saves for the Keystone College women's lacrosse team on Saturday, but the Giants fell to visiting Delaware Valley University 10-7 in the team's 2019 home opener.

With the loss, the Giants move to 1-1 on the year and are slated to host Penn State Abington on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. but that contest could be moved due to winter weather and the cold temperatures forecasted for early this week.

The Aggies improve to 2-1 on the season and will host Immaculata on Wednesday, March 6 at 4 p.m.

Offensively, senior Kayla Bain (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) tallied three goals and led the Giants in shots (8) and draw control wins (7). Senior Alex Smith (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) chipped in two scores, seven shots, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Junior Amy Llewellyn (Plains, Pa./Coughlin) and sophomore Alex Williams (Elkton, Md./The Tome School) both scored one goal each while senior Nisa Cortes (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) and junior Savanna Robinson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) provided assists.  Robinson tallied four shots and four caused turnovers.

For Del Val, Clair Gamache scored a game-high five goals on 10 shots while Amanda McKeegan enjoyed four goals on 10 shots.  Amanda Dietrich paced the Aggies with 11 stops.

The Giants trailed by just one, 5-4, at halftime, but the Aggies outscored Keystone 5-3 in the second half to hand the Orange & Blue the non-conference loss.
