Kevin Luciano Brought the Gold to Puerto Rico

Kevin Luciano, who was born in Cambridge, joined the Puerto Rican baseball team that conquered the Pan American Games held in Peru. 

"It is a blessing to win the gold medal," said Luciano who was part of the Puerto Rican national baseball team that brought the gold medal of the XVIII Pan American Games, one of the most important sporting events held in Peru and in which 6,680 participated Athletes from all over the continent.

The Puerto Rican representative broke Canada's double consecutive gold race with a 6-1 victory, giving the Caribbean nation its first Pan Am gold medal in baseball.

During this impressive run, Luciano - who grew up in Cambridge and now lives in Everett - left a mark.

The first baseman of the Puerto Rican national baseball could very well be the next star of the Boston Red Sox.

Luciano lives with his parents Luis and Jeannie Luciano (yes, the Lucianos of Colombia Street and Jefferson Park) and attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School.

Later, he went on to play baseball at Keystone College, graduating in Spring 2015.

In his senior year at Keystone, he started 46 games and led the team with a .400 batting average (68 for 170) to go along with five homers, 47 RBI, 13 doubles, 36 runs scored, 2 triples, 16 walks and an on-base percentage of .466 with a .588 slugging percentage.
