Baseball Enjoys Senior Day Sweep Over SEU

La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College baseball team enjoyed a CSAC doubleheader sweep over visiting St. Elizabeth University on Saturday for Senior Day.
 
  • With the victories, the Giants improve to 17-4 (9-1 CSAC), clinching the #1 seed in the upcoming CSAC Tournament, and will host the semifinal round on May 7-8 against #4 seed Centenary University.
  • The Eagles end the season at 5-9 (4-8 CSAC).
  • The program honored 10 players in between the doubleheader for Senior Day: Jared Davis (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside), Conrad Holbrook (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield), Larry Sims (Winona, MISS.), Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), Jared Rowley (Dover, Del./Dover), Matt Tarabola (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee), Carlos Benoit (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Pedro Abreu (Bronx, N.Y./Santa Teresa), Easley De La Cruz (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) & Kevin Cherestal (Miami, Fla./Royal Palm Beach).
 
Game One: Keystone 20, SEU 4
 
  • Keystone plated 5 runs in the 1st, 5 in the 2nd & 6 more in the 4th.
  • Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) went 3-for-6 with 2 runs & 1 RBI while Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, 3 runs & 2 walks.
  • Carlini enjoyed a 2-for-4 outing with 4 runs & 2 walks while Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) went 1-for-4 with 2 runs & a 2-run bomb in the 4th.
  • RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley), Evan Fallwell (Tucson, ARIZ. ), Derrick Cancel (Orlando, FLA.) & Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic) all collected 2 RBI each.
  • Fallwell enjoyed a 2-run homer in the 8th while Gouldsbury & Cancel both tripled.
  • On the mound, Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned his 4th win of the spring, going 6 frames, striking out 8. The righty tossed 79 pitches and forced 6 flyouts & 4 groundouts.
  • Benoit & Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) appeared in relief, combining for 3 innings with 2 punchouts.
 
Game Two: Keystone 7, SEU 3
 
  • Fallwell & De La Cruz both went 2-for-4 and combined for 3 RBI.
  • Kelly homered in the 5th – a solo blast.
  • Carlini & Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) combined for 4 walks.
  • Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J.) picked up his 3rd win of the year, going 4.2 innings, forcing 9 flyouts & 4 groundouts, tossing 65 pitches.
  • Decker Quintana (Ogden, Utah.), Wilbert Gil (Allentown, PA.) & Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y.) combined for 4.1 innings in relief, striking out 4.
  • Gravel earned the save with 3 punchouts.
