Keystone Baseball to Face Wilson in CSAC Championship

La PLUME, Pa - The Keystone College baseball team is looking for its 16th-straight conference championship as they host Wilson College for the CSAC title. The No. 1 seed Giants advanced to the CSAC Championship following a semifinal sweep over No. 4 seed Centenary University on May 7.

In the semifinal matchup, the Giants took game one 7-0, thanks to a terrific outing from right-handed pitcher, Jared Rowley (Dover, Del./Dover). The senior and CSAC Pitcher of the Year tossed eight scoreless innings and struck out nine batters.

In the second game, Keystone enjoyed a 17-3 victory over the Cyclones. Sophomore infielder Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI while junior RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) recorded 3 hits and 4 RBI. Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned the win in game two as he pitched seven innings with four strikeouts. Keystone improved their record to 19-4 with those two playoff wins.

The second semifinal contest featured the No. 2 seed Wilson College Phoenix hosting the Cairn University Highlanders, the No. 3 seed. Wilson won both game one (4-3) and game two (3-2) in walk-off fashion to advance to the CSAC Finals for the first time in program history.

Wilson defeated Cairn in game one in extra innings as Jacob Whittington knocked a single to right field which scored in Michal Marrale from second. Dean Mercer played hero in the second game when he singled to shortstop to bring home Brandon Cook. With the sweep, the Phoenix move to 21-4 on the year.

Keystone played Wilson back on March 22 where both teams split the regular season doubleheader matchup. The Giants won the first game 9-3, but Wilson bounced back to take game two 7-6. The best-of-three championship series will begin on May 14-15 at Christy Mathewson Field. First pitch for game one is on Friday, May 14 at 3 pm. Game two will follow the next day beginning at 12 pm. If by chance both teams split the first two games, game three will take place to decide the winner.
