LA PLUME, Pa. – After falling in its opening contest to Wilkes, Keystone College welcomes fans to a football game for the first time in over 70 years as the Giants play host to Misericordia.

OFFENSE

Keystone utilized Thomas Roach and
Deswa Evans Jr. (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) at quarterback against Wilkes. The two combined to go 11-for-26 in the air for 90 yards. Evans Jr. added 25 yards on the ground, carrying the ball nine times.
Â
Kevin Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) saw the bulk of the carries in the backfield for the Giants rushing the ball 18 times for 37 yards and scored Keystone's first touchdown of the inaugural season.
Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) was another spark for the Giants, rushing nine times for 63 yards.

In the air, six Keystone Giants caught passes, with
Javier Tazza (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) being the main contributor with four catches for 46 yards.

Defense
Â
The Giants were able to put together some big plays defensively. Keystone recorded two sacks on the afternoon, one by
Maxwell Johnson (Wilmington, Del./St. Thomas Aquinas College) and a half sack each by
Michael Cora (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) and
Fushawn Liggins (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton). Two forced fumbles/fumble recoveries were created by the Giants, with Liggins forcing one and
Tyshaun McClain (Jersey City, N.J./Erie Community College) the other.

Sean Tocci (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) (3 solo, 5 assist) and
Troy McEwen (Marlboro, N.Y./Marlboro) (5 solo, 3 assist) led the way for Keystone in the tackle department, while McLain added seven takles (1 solo, 6 assist).
Sean Pettway (Ellenville, N.Y./Ellenville) had the lone pass break-up for the Giants and Cora added a quarterback hit to his totals.

Keystone will look to continue its success in the passing game, limiting Wilkes to 13-for-28 passing and 189 yards. The ground game was the struggle for the Giants, allowing 369 yards.

Misericordia
Â
Keystone marks game one of the season for Misericordia. The Cougars got one contest in during the spring after the 2020 cancellation, falling to Lycoming College 30-7.

In its last full season in 2019, Misericordia finished 6-5 overall and 5-3 in MAC play. The Cougars started the season 5-1 before falling in four of their last five contests.

Misericordia averaged 27 points per game in 2019 and allowed an average of 28.7 per game. The offense averaged 369 yards, while the defense allowed 410 per contest.

With a new quarterback at the helm, with the graduation of Brady Williams after the 2019 season, the Cougars could rely on running back Michael Gawlick, who totaled 826 yards on the ground and nine touchdowns in 2019, as well as being the third leading receiver, catching 19 passes for 189 yards. Gawlick is the team's leading receiver entering 2021.

Misericordia graduated its top two receiving targets in 2019, who combined for 114 catches, 1,712 yards and 16 touchdowns. The receiving core as a whole return just 15 catches, 139 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, the Cougars look stout, returning for of their top five tacklers, including Tavion Rogers, who had 74 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and an interception in 2019.
