MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Freshman Pete Laidley (Miramar, Fla./Pembroke Pines Charter) finished with a career-high 30 points to lead the Keystone College men's basketball team to a 76-63 road CSAC playoff win at St. Elizabeth University on Monday night, marking the program's first postseason win since the 2012-13 season.
The No. 5 seed Giants (9-15) will now prepare to travel to No. 1 seed Wilson College (16-7) on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. The No. 4 seed Eagles' season ends at 7-16.
Monday's 13-point victory marks Keystone's first playoff win since defeating Centenary University 94-69 on Feb. 16, 2013. This is the team's first playoff appearance since the 2017-18 campaign.
Laidley had the hot hand all night as the lefty shot 12-of-19 from the field and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe while pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the year.
First Team All-CSAC graduate student Tone Cockrell (Upper Marlboro, Md./Landon School) enjoyed 17 points, six assists, and five rebounds while CSAC Rookie of the Year Jack Anderson (Davie, Fla./Western) followed with 10 points and four boards. Junior Shane Rosencrans (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley) and senior Tyrell Lacoste (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) combined for 15 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
For SEU, Jarek Johnson and Darnill Brown tallied 17 points. The Giants held Second Team All-CSAC and Defensive Player of the Year Pierre Harden to eight points on 3-of-11 shooting.
Keystone held on to a 35-28 lead at halftime and outscored the Eagles 41-35 in the second half. The Giants shot 50 percent from the field for the night (28-of-56) and limited SEU to 40.3 percent shooting from the field and 19 percent shooting from deep.
