Giants Fall Late to Endicott 10-8

Keystone outhit the Gulls 13-11.

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Despite leading 8-6 after seven innings, the Keystone College baseball team fell to Endicott College 10-8 on Tuesday in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

With the defeat, the Giants drop to 5-8 and will wrap up their Spring Break trip against Farmingdale State College (4-6) tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. The Gulls improve to 6-1 and will play Clarkson University (2-3) on Thursday.

Keystone outhit the Gulls 13-11 as Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. 

JD Barrett (Moosic, Pa./Dallas) and Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) both tallied two hits while Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic), Jason Thomas (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman), and Evan Fallwell (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) notched one RBI apiece.

Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) earned the start while Brandon Valles (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) pitched in relief, tossing four innings with six strikeouts. Isaac Neal (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) appeared from the bullpen, combining for four strikeouts.

Endicott jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the top of the second before Keystone notched a four-run frame of its own, to get within one, 5-4. The Giants tied the game at 5-5 in the third thanks to a Hadsall sacrifice fly, scoring Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale).

Barrett tied the game up at 6-6 with an RBI double in the fourth while Hadsall and Pokorney gave Keystone its first lead of the day in the seventh, 8-6.

The Gulls knotted the contest up at 8-8 in the eighth and went ahead for good with a pinch-hit homer and RBI single in the top of the ninth.
