La PLUME, Pa. – Krista Strausser (Danville, Pa./Danville) scored five goals for the Keystone College women's lacrosse team in Saturday's 15-8 non-conference defeat to visiting Mt. Aloysius College.
With the loss, the Giants drop to 0-5 on the year and will travel to Wells College (1-5) on Tuesday, March 29 at 3 p.m. The Mounties improve to 2-4 and host the Express on Friday, April 1 at 6 p.m.
Strausser led all players with a game-high five goals and six points, tallying 10 shots on goal with 10 draw controls and two ground balls. Strausser leads the Giants this season with 13 goals and 15 points.
Riley Hayes (Alexandria, Va./Edison) chipped in two goals, one helper, and two caused turnovers while Alex Williams (Elkton, Md./The Tome School) enjoyed one goal and two assists. Meaghan Drennan (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) notched one assist, four shots, four draw controls, and three grounds balls.
Defensively, Amilee Miller (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area), Samantha Hamlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Johnson City Central), and Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) combined for 13 caused turnovers.
Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made nine stops in the cage while her counterpart, Zoe Swank, made 10 stops for the Mounties.
For MAC, Katie Figinski and Mallie Lanier tallied four goals apiece.
The Mounties jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the first quarter and held a 9-5 lead at intermission. Keystone rallied to within a pair of goals, 10-8, with 5:41 left in the third quarter. However, the Mounties responded with five unanswered goals the rest of the game.
Keystone outshot MAC 29-28 and won 20 draw controls on the day.
