ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Keystone College women's lacrosse team enjoyed nine second-half goals in Friday's 16-7 CSAC win at Cedar Crest College.
The Giants are now on a two-game winning streak, moving to 2-8 (2-2 CSAC) on the year. Keystone will head to Wilson College (3-8, 2-2 CSAC) on Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m. The Falcons drop to 1-6 (0-3 CSAC) and travel to Centenary University (1-4, 0-3 CSAC) on Wednesday, April 20.
Following a 2-2 first quarter, the Giants outscored the Falcons 5-2 in the second period to claim a 7-4 lead at halftime. Keystone found the back of the net five times in the third and outscored Cedar Crest 4-2 in the final period.
Overall, Keystone outshot the Falcons 36-19 and held a slight advantage in draw controls (14-13) and ground balls (20-19). Keystone went 5-for-9 on free-position shots.
Krista Strausser (Danville, Pa./Danville) led all players with six goals on Friday, firing seven shots on target with four draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls. Strausser leads the Giants with 39 goals this season, ranking third in the CSAC.
Meaghan Drennan (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) provided four goals and one assist while Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) enjoyed three scores and three helpers. Tomada also chipped in six draw controls, four grounds balls, and three caused turnovers.
Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) tallied two goals, two assists, and three ground balls while Alex Williams (Elkton, Md./The Tome School) scored once with Riley Hayes (Alexandria, Va./Edison) dishing out one assist. Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made seven stops in goal for her second win this season.
For Cedar Crest, Madyson Lagano tallied three goals. Mira Carver notched 10 saves in the goal
