La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday against visiting Bryn Athyn College and earned the last CSAC playoff spot in the process.
The Giants (2-11, 2-4 CSAC) fell to the Lions 18-3 but by virtue of Cedar Crest defeating Sweet Briar 11-6 earlier in the day and tie-breaking scenarios, Keystone grabbed the fourth and final postseason slot. The Lions improved to 9-2 (6-0 CSAC) and earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CSAC tournament.
Both teams will square off on Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m. in the semifinals at Bryn Athyn.
Prior to Saturday's match, the program honored Samantha Hamlin (Binghamton, N.Y./Johnson City Central) and Krista Strausser (Danville, Pa./Danville) for their contributions to the team. Strausser netted two goals and six draw controls, giving her 47 scores this season, ranking fifth-most in the CSAC. Hamlin tallied two caused turnovers and one ground ball against the Lions.
Alex Williams (Elkton, Md./The Tome School) tallied a third-quarter goal while Riley Hayes (Alexandria, Va./Edison) provided three caused turnovers, two ground balls, and three shots. Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made 12 saves and secured seven ground balls while Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) contributed four grounds balls and two draw control wins.
For Bryn Athyn, Payton Gormley tallied six goals and six assists while Shea Gormley enjoyed five goals and two helpers. Lee Antwi chipped in three goals and three assists.
BAC jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and led 12-2 at the break. The Lions tallied six second-half goals.
