BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Keystone women's lacrosse team had its season ended with a 19-3 loss to top seed Bryn Athyn Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships semifinal action at General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
It was a similar result facing the same team the Giants had ended the regular season with just four days prior.
The Lions leaped out to an early 9-0 lead before Krista Strausser (Danville, Pa./Danville) got the Giants on the scoreboard with a late first-quarter goal assisted by Alex Williams (Elkton, Md./The Tome School).
The Giants were held out of the scoring column the rest of the half as Bryn Athyn added three more goals — all via Payton Gormley.
Following an early second-half goal by the Lions, Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) won the ensuing draw control and took it straight to the opposing net for a score.
Strausser closed out the game with her 49th goal of the season — assisted again by Williams — in the waning minutes as the Giants were eliminated from the postseason.
Keystone finished the season at 2-12 overall while Bryn Athyn improved to 10-2 with a matchup against second-seeded Notre Dame of Maryland Saturday for the CSAC Championship.
