La PLUME, Pa. – Keystone women's lacrosse hosted Notre Dame of Maryland for its Colonial States Athletic Conference home opener, but the Gators got the best of the Giants, 18-8, Saturday afternoon at the Turf Field Athletic Complex.
The Gators sprawled out to a 7-0 lead through the end of the first period before Krista Strausser (Danville, Pa./Danville) scored off an assist from Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) to break the scoring drought at the top of the second quarter.
Meaghan Drennan (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) and Riley Hayes (Alexandria, Va./Edison) added goals —first of Drennan's career — to stay within striking distance at 8-3, but NDMU netted three more to close out the half before putting the game out of reach with four more scores in the third period.
Keystone fell to 0-2 in CSAC play (0-8 overall) while Notre Dame of Maryland improved to 2-1 CSAC, 4-4 overall.
