SCRANTON, Pa. - Maria Belen Rodriguez Molina and Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) both tallied goals but the Keystone College field hockey team fell at Marywood University 7-2 in non-conference action on Friday evening.
With the defeat, the Giants drop to 2-3 overall and will travel to Wells College (0-2) tomorrow for 1 p.m. The Pacers improve to 2-4 and will host SUNY Geneseo (3-2) on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
Trailing 2-0 at halftime, Rodriguez Molina caged her sixth goal of the year in the 32nd minute to cut into the Pacer lead by half, 2-1. However, the Pacers responded with three straight goals to claim a 5-1 advantage.
Mainero enjoyed her second tally of the season in the 47th minute to make it a 5-2 contest before two more Marywood goals put an end to Friday's scoring.
Marywood outshot Keystone 29-7 and claimed a 25-3 penalty corner advantage. Keystone's keepers made 17 saves on the day, as Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made eight stops and Casey Stratton (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) recorded seven.
Julianna Santiago (Allentown, Pa./Louis E. Dieruff) and Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) combined for five shots. Angelina Molina was credited with two defensive saves.
For Marywood, six different players notched scores, as Milana Straub enjoyed two goals. The Pacers have now won five straight contests against Keystone, outscoring KC 19-5.
