Women’s Lacrosse Defeated by Maine Maritime

LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's lacrosse team suffered a 13-3 loss to Maine Maritime Academy Tuesday afternoon in nonconference action at the Keystone College Turf Field.

With the loss, Keystone drops to 0-3 with Maine Maritime remaining undefeated at 3-0.

The Giants three goals all came in the first half as Makayla Batts (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) and Lillian Kennedy-Butler (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll School) both tallied a goal and an assist. Kennedy-Butler led the team in draw controls with five.

Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) contributed with a goal for the Giants. Tomada and Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) combined for nine ground balls.

For the Mariners, Hazel Stoddard scored seven goals, two assists, five ground balls, and four draw controls. Olivia Harriman and Amber Card both scored two goals.

Harriman posted a game high four assists on the afternoon. Rebecca Caron and Mirra Magaña chipped in with a goal.

Keystone trailed Maine Maritime, 9-3, at the half, but were blanked in the second half. The Mariners outshot the Giants, 29-18, and had a narrow, 26-22, margin on ground balls. Keystone had a 68 percent success rate on clear attempts.

Keystone will search for their first win on Sunday, Mar. 12 as they host Wells College at 2 p.m. Maine Maritime will travel to Mount St. Mary (NY) on Thursday, Mar. 9 at 5 p.m.
