LA PLUME, Pa.- The Keystone College women's lacrosse team defeated Cedar Crest College 13-8 Saturday afternoon in CSAC action. With the win, Keystone moves to 4-5 (3-0 CSAC). Cedar Crest falls to 3-4 (0-1 CSAC).
Prior to the start of today's game, the women's lacrosse team honored their two seniors Mercedes Goodwin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) and Summer Price (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) in a pregame senior day ceremony.
Meaghan Drennan (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) led the Giants with four goals while Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Patrick's College) and Makayla Batts (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) both tallied hat tricks. Batts and Mainero combined for nine ground balls. Maria Tomada (Buenos Aires, Argentina/San Vicente de Paul) and Miranda Mascia (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) combined for three goals. Mascia posted a match high 10 ground balls and seven draw controls in today's game. Batts, Mainero, Mascia, Tomada, and Gabby Lodato (Union, N.J./Union) both chipped in with an assist. Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made 12 saves in goal.
For Cedar Crest, Maddie Graham led the Falcons with five goals. Kylah Demarest scored two goals and dished out two assists. Brooke Holley put herself in the score column with a goal of her own.
Keystone outshot Cedar Crest, 31-26. They had a 36-25 advantage on draw controls. The Giants was 75 percent on clear attempts.
The Giants will host Wells College in the team's final nonconference game of the season next Friday, Apr. 21 at 5:30 P.M. The Falcons will host Wilson College on Tuesday, Apr. 18 at 6:30 P.M.
