Keystone Completes Sweep of Cairn on Saturday

LANGHORNE, Pa. - The Keystone College baseball team defeated Cairn University twice in Saturday's road CSAC doubleheader to successfully sweep the Highlanders in the three-game weekend series.

The Giants are now 13-10 (6-0 CSAC) and host Valley Forge on Friday, April 14 at 3 p.m. Cairn drops to 7-15 (1-5 CSAC).

Game One: Keystone 10, Cairn 3

Keystone enjoyed a six-run sixth inning to put the opening game on ice. The Giants finished with nine hits, as Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) and Giovanni Diaz (Bronx, N.Y./Christopher Columbus) each collected two apiece.

Hadsall finished 2-for-3 with three RBI while Diaz drove in two. Griffin Yastremski (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks.

Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned his fourth victory of the spring, tossing five innings with two strikeouts, seven flyouts and five groundouts on 77 pitches. Tyler Mullen (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) tossed the final two frames, striking out one, while forcing three groundouts and two flyouts on 26 pitches.

Game Two: Keystone 7, Cairn 2

The Giants plated three in the fourth, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in game two.

Yastremski homered for the third time in two days, hammering a pitch to right field in the fifth for a solo homer, his team-leading fifth long ball this spring.

Diaz finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Hadsall, Diaz and Justin Mann (St. John's, Fla./Bartram Trail) combined for six of Keystone's seven runs.

Brayan Villar (West Orange, N.J./Belleville) earned his third win, tossing four innings with five strikeouts. The righty threw 73 pitches and forced a pair of flyouts and groundouts. Anthony Mierez (Granby, Conn./Rockville) threw three flawless innings for his first save, striking out two with five flyouts and two groundouts on 36 pitches.
